Resurfacing work at a busy car park in the centre of Bury St Edmunds will start at the end of the month following a £150,000 investment.

Phased work to resurface and reline sections of Ram Meadow car park will start on July 31 and, weather permitting, is expected to take two weeks to complete.

The work, which comes following a £150,000 investment, will also see a new access ramp built for the football club.

Cllr David Taylor, cabinet member for operations at West Suffolk Council, said: "While the work to improve the car park will mean certain sections will be closed on different days, we are working to keep disruption to a minimum.

"We do not expect it to impact on the market, the football club or staff or visitors to town centre businesses, from being able to find a place to park."

Advanced warning signs have gone up at the car park while the council has also written to nearby businesses, Bury Town Football Club and nearby residents to advise of the works.
