Drivers risk a fine of up to £500 over the next fortnight as police increase vehicle checks.
Since Monday, officers from Suffolk police have begun carrying out increased checks across the county.
They are targeting drivers and passengers who aren't wearing their seatbelts, which is one of the main causes of road deaths.
In a crash, you are twice as likely to die if you are not wearing a belt.
Chief Inspector Jonathan Chapman, of the Roads Armed Policing Team, said: “We all understand the importance of wearing a seatbelt but there are still a number of people who choose to break the law and risk their lives.
“It takes seconds to belt up. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be wearing one.
“Officers will be using the campaign as an opportunity to educate the public about seatbelt use and how to best protect themselves from being involved in a serious collision.”
Drivers and passengers caught not wearing a seatbelt face a £100 on-the-spot fine and, if prosecuted, the fine could be up to £500.
Drivers are responsible for ensuring children under 14 are wearing seatbelts and can be fined for each child.
The campaign from the National Police Chiefs Council runs until June 25.
