Potential jobs could be created should plans submitted for a new bus workshop be granted.
A planning application to Mid Suffolk District Council outlines plans for the construction of a workshop and associated hardstanding area in Woolpit near Bury St Edmunds.
The applicant is seeking permission to build a steel-framed workshop for a private bus company that operates from a wider site, using an open area for bus storage.
This proposal would allow them to store their buses inside and undertake maintenance of their fleet in-house.
This means that the workshop would create jobs for around two or three full-time mechanics.
The workshop would be in use between the hours of 8am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday, with four bus movements per day due to them having contracts with local schools and the council.
It would also be in keeping with the existing buildings at the site.
The application states that the proposal will 'provide improved facilities for an existing business, allowing them to improve the efficiency' of their operations.
