A horse has died after being trapped in a ditch for almost three hours.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service received a call just after 10am to reports of a horse trapped in a water-filled ditch in Mill Lane in Cowlinge, near Newmarket.
Five engines and specialist vehicles including a Unimog, attended from Haverhill, Wickhambrook, Newmarket, and Bury St Edmunds.
On arrival, it was found the horse had already died.
Crews remained on the scene to assist with the recovery of the animal using the Unimog multi-purpose vehicle.
A stop time was called just after 10.30am and the incident was declared closed just before 1pm.
