A "do not travel" warning has been issued after a night of heavy rain has left Suffolk's roads flooded and dangerous. 

Police have warned motorists to not drive "unless absolutely necessary" as the continual downpour sees conditions worsen. 

It comes amid a yellow weather warning from the Met Office which has said disruption to travel across the county is highly likely until later today.

Flooding of homes and businesses in low-lying areas is also likely and some public services such as trains, buses and even electricity may be affected. 

Children were pictured wading through flood water in Lower Road in Lavenham last week after a nearby river burst its banks. 

A car had to be towed out of the floods on the same road after it got stuck, while a van was also pictured stranded in Wash Lane, in Combs Ford, near Stowmarket.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said a Sainsbury's delivery driver had to be rescued after their van broke down in floods on Old Newton's Stonebridge Lane on Thursday.
