The owner of a village pub which is reopening this weekend is hoping to create a venue the community can "be proud to visit again".

Chris Gill will open the doors to the Crown and Castle in Risby, near Bury St Edmunds, today (Saturday June 22), having taken over the running of the pub.

After moving in around one month ago, he is hoping to deliver a venue the community can be proud of.

"I was born above a pub so it is something we have done throughout the whole family," he said.

"It's a beautiful old building, circa 1850, in a great location. I just knew if we can get this pub right and open, the community is screaming out to have their pub back. Hopefully, I can deliver a nice and smart place they can be proud to come and visit again."

Mr Gill is hoping to offer a quality offering with a "great beer selection and proper pub grub".
