Permission has been granted for the first phase of a 900-home estate in west Suffolk.
Regional housebuilder Denbury Home has plans to build the new St Edmunds Gate development in Bury St Edmunds.
The development will create 900 new homes for the town alongside the southern Abbots Vale neighbourhood due to be developed by Hopkins Homes.
The initial phase will see 174 homes constructed, including one and two-bedroom apartments as well as two, three and four-bedroom homes in detached, terraced, coach and townhouse styles.
Denbury Homes also confirmed 52 of these homes will be affordable and £15.5million will be invested to support the education, healthcare, libraries and highways infrastructure of the area under the Section 106 payments related to the estate.

Land director Joshua Hopkins said: "We are delighted to have secured planning permission for the first phase of homes at St Edmunds Gate.
"This development forms the cornerstone of our growth plans for the next five years and so we are delighted to be taking the first steps towards bringing our vision to life.
"The homes we have selected for this first phase offer the opportunity for buyers at every stage of their housing journey to secure a home of their own including through affordable housing schemes.

Work on the site has already started with the construction of the spine road, vehicular access to residential areas, urban drainage, flood compensation and landscaping work on the land south of Rougham Hill.
Denbury Homes expects to launch sales at St Edmunds Gate in early September this year, with the first show home opening in early 2025.
