A Haverhill mum has voiced her anger over a "horrible" smell that has plagued her new-build home since the day she moved in.
Sasha Robinson purchased a home in Donovan Way with her partner two years ago, with the pair moving in in October 2022.
Now a mother, with baby Bonnie born about 12 weeks ago, Ms Robinson said the area around the family home constantly smells of sewage and is calling on developer Redrow to do something about it.
The developer, Redrow, has said it is working to resolve an issue with the pumping station that has led to the unpleasant odour.
"When you come onto the estate you can usually smell it straight away, but our house seems to be the worst as you walk up and down the street," Ms Robinson said.
"We've had the problem since day one that we moved in. It usually smells like a rotten egg, it is horrible."
Ms Robinson said the odour can be smelled with only the vents open but, especially now they have a baby and in the summer months, they have needed to keep the windows open more often leading to a stronger smell.
"We've got a three-month old baby and Redrow are aware - they haven't really taken that into consideration, I feel," she said.
"She's still very little and because we are having the windows open I don't know what she's breathing in, but it is every single day."
Ms Robinson said workers came and worked on the drainage system last week after she complained again to Redrow, but it still smells.
She said other times she has complained they have flushed the system through, but this also made no difference.
"We never wanted to buy a new build because we had heard bad things, but Redrow calls themselves premium homes so we hoped it wouldn't be the same story," she said.
"The houses are built beautifully and we love our home but I wouldn't call it premium if they don't know how to fix the smell problem."
She also said homeowners on the Parklands estate, another Redrow site in the town, told her they too have a problem with drain smells.
A Redrow spokesperson said: “We’re working to resolve an issue with the pumping station which has led to an intermittent unpleasant odour being reported by some residents.
"We’ll shortly be writing to affected residents to apologise and share an update on repair work timings.”
