A former sports hall dome in a west Suffolk town is set to go under the hammer after years of disuse.
The Mildenhall Sports Dome, off Bury Road in Mildenhall, will be auctioned by Savills from 9am on October 30.
The lot, number 84, is listed with a guide price of £25,000.
The dome site was built in 1977 using an innovative method - the Bini System - and is currently vacant after it closed its doors for the last time on June 24, 2021.
Following its closure it became Grade II-listed for its architectural and historic interest.
The listing states the site has 'development potential' subject to consents and the whole site comprises of 1.10 acres.
The dome sits on the site of the former Mildenhall College Academy which has been derelict since the secondary school moved to the Mildenhall Hub in Sheldrick Way in 2021.
It is 11m high and 36m in diameter and made of concrete with steel reinforcement.
Anyone wishing to place a bid in the auction on October 8 should register via the Savills listing.
George Goucher, of Savills Auctions, said: "Mildenhall Sports Dome comes to auction with a guide price of £25,000 and is likely to attract a healthy pool of buyers, either looking to return the building back to community use or develop subject to the necessary planning consents.
"Grade II listed, this property presents a unique opportunity to be repurposed into its next phase.
"The lot offers excellent value and I expect competitive bidding to be achieved."
