A Grade II listed sports dome has been sold for almost £200,000 more than its guide price.
Mildenhall Sports Dome in Bury Road was sold during a Savills auction on Tuesday, October 29.
The dome, which has been empty since it closed its doors for the final time, was listed with a guide price of £25,000.
On auction day, the site was sold for £221,000, some £196,000 more than the asking price.
The dome site was built in 1977 using an innovative method - the Bini System - and is currently vacant after it closed its doors for the last time on June 24, 2021.
Following its closure it became Grade II-listed for its architectural and historic interest.
The listing stated that the site had 'development potential' subject to consents and the whole site comprises of 1.10 acres.
The dome sits on the site of the former Mildenhall College Academy which has been derelict since the secondary school moved to the Mildenhall Hub in Sheldrick Way.
It is 11m high and 36m in diameter and made of concrete with steel reinforcement.
